hi, i'm the writer for the aboriginal rights section. i was wondering if you've read any of vandana shiva's stuff - she's an indian indigenous post-colonial feminist thinker. she's amazing. i've got a link to one of her articles on my homepage - just click on "monocultures" in the intro. it's all about the masculisation of agriculture in the third world. great stuff.

about the gender gap. it's interesting to see how that comes out in indigenous communities here in australia. because of welfare dependancy, women actually end up with all the economic power in communities through child endowment payments. this disempowers the men, who are mostly unemployed, and as a result leads to cycles of domestic violence and crime that degrades the community. it's kind of the flip side.
